Job description: Live-in carer
Salary and Benefits:
- Sponsorship offered to candidates switching employer within the UK
- £12.82 per hour (£25,000 per year)
- Free accommodation and food (approximate saving of £7,000 per year compared with renting)
Typical responsibilities:
37.5 hours per week. This is strictly enforced, meaning you will not work longer than this (unless you have agreed to that arrangement).
Note - tasks vary between live-in clients, however common tasks include:
- Personal Care — supporting clients with daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, toileting, nutrition, mobility, grooming, and overall well-being
- Companionship — offering company and emotional support
- Medication management — administering or prompting medication according to the client's care plan
- Cooking — preparing healthy and nutritious meals
- Housekeeping — includes cleaning, laundry, organising, shopping, managing bills and maintenance
- Record keeping — maintaining accurate records of client care and wellbeing
Mandatory eligibility requirements
You must currently:
- Legally working or studying in the UK
- Be able to prove your legal right to work in the UK (see this webpage for more info)
- Hold a UK passport or valid visa that allows switching to a Skilled Worker visa, such as:
- Skilled Worker visa (previously a "Tier 2" visa)
- Student visa
- Graduate visa
- Dependant visa
- Any other visa type explicitly eligible under UK immigration rules
- Meet the English language requirements for the Skilled Worker visa
Note: Visitors, short-term visa holders (tourist visa, Overseas Domestic worker visa), and those with visas that explicitly prohibit switching are not eligible.
- DBS check will be required as part of the recruitment process
- Clean criminal record in the UK
- Living arrangement — for practical reasons, this role requires the carer to live full-time in the spare bedroom provided by the family without any dependants or other individuals. Candidates should ensure they are able to commit to these arrangement before applying.
Desirable (but not mandatory)
Work Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is preferred
Candidates who have these requirements may be fast-tracked
- UK driving licence. Licence approval to drive manual transmission is highly desirable
